Biography

Èlia Farreras-Cabero is a soprano based in Germany, devoted to vocal interpretation from an expressive, artistic, and thoughtful perspective. Her musical journey began with cello studies at the Escola de Música de Vicl (Catalonia), where she studied from 2006 to 2015. She later trained in voice with Elisenda Cabero at the Escola de Música i Conservatori de Sabadell (2015–2019).
In 2020 she moved to Berlin to continue her vocal studies at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, where she studied with Martin Bruns and Britta Schwarz. She completed her Bachelor’s degree with distinction in 2025 and, that October, began her Master’s studies in Opera at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig under Brigitte Wohlfarth.
Throughout her education, she has deepened her understanding of vocal repertoire through masterclasses with renowned artists such as Graham Johnson, Thomas Allen, Thomas Hampson, Christoph Prégardien, Yasmine Levi-Ellentuck, Richard Stokes, Thomas Quasthoff, Wolfram Rieger, Christiane Iven, Hedwig Fassbender, Anne Le Bozec, Götz Payer, Mara Kurotschka, Claar Ter Horst, Enrique Martínez-Castignani, Lluís Vilamajó and Ofèlia Sala, among others.
Her dedication has been recognized with several awards and scholarships. Recently, she was a scholarship holder at the Heidelberger Frühling Akademie 2025/26. In 2025 she received the prize for Best Lied Interpretation at the Girona Young Singers Competition. In 2024 she was selected for the Leeds Lieder Festival Young Artist Programme (UK) and for Lied the Future at the Schubertíada – Franz Schubert Association. In July 2025 she appeared as an Emerging Artist at the Boyne Music Festival (Ireland) and at the Exzellenz-Labor Gesang 2025 of the Académie Musicale de Villecroze (France). Since 2023 she has held a Deutschlandstipendium and, in 2021, received the Spanish BECASAIE grant. In 2020 she was awarded the Conxita Badia Prize in Camprodon with the ensemble of the same name and, in 2019, the Second Prize at the Ciutat de Mataró Music Competition.
She has performed as a soloist on major international stages, including Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang (Konzerthalle Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach with the BSOF conducted by Jörg-Peter Weigle, and at the Konzerthaus Berlin, 2025, conducted by Thomas Hennig), Fauré’s Requiem (Konzerthaus Berlin, 2024, conducted by Matthias Elger), and various Lied recitals with pianist Lucas Huber Sierra at the Schubertíada Festival in Vilabertran, the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, and Kühlhaus Berlin.
